Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowlers cast a spell on Chennai Super Kings in the 25th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday. CSK batters fell like nine pins after KKR skipper Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sunil Narine produced an amazing spell as he claimed three wickers for 13 runs from his four overs. The former West Indian star made amends for Vijay Shankar’s catch early in the game.
Rahul Tripathi who had come in for Ruturaj Gaikwad was sent into bat at number three. The 34-year-old failed to get going with the bat as he scored just 16 runs after facing 22 balls. Just when Tripathi was looking to open his shoulders, Sunil Narine ended his knock. The veteran spinner bowled a perfect off-break that went through the gate and knocked back Tripathi’s off-stump.
Chennai Super Kings’ openers Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra failed to get going with the bat. Moeen Ali got the wicket of Conway out for 12 as he was given out LBW. Rachin Ravindra was the next man out as he was caught by Rahane off Harshit Rana for just four runs.
KKR bowlers run rampant against woeful CSK batters
Rahul Tripathi and Vijay Shankar added 43 runs for the third wicket as the two batters looked to rebuild the innings. Shankar opened up his shoulders with a huge six to give the home fans a chance to cheer the proceedings on the pitch. After the wicket of Tripathi the home team kept losing wickets in a heap.
Varun Chakravarthy got the wicket of Shankar for 29 which came off 21 balls with two fours and a six. After the wicket of Tripathi, Chennai lost the wickers of R Ashwin for one run and Ravindra Jadeja for a duck.
Deepak Hooda came into bat as he replaced Tripathi as the impact player. The 30-year-old though was out for a duck when he was caught by Vaibhav Arora off Chakravarthy. This got MS Dhoni to the wicket but the CSK skipper was out after scoring just one run as he was dismissed LBW by Narine.
