Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowlers were put under the sword by Punjab Kings batters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first after winning the toss at the Mullanpur Stadium. Despite the pyro techniques with the bat from PBKS batters, CSK bowlers somehow found a way to take wickets at regular intervals.
Glenn Maxwell, who has been struggling for runs, failed to get going with the bat once again. The veteran Australian star was out after scoring just one run from two balls. Former India spinner R. Ashwin saw Maxwell drill the ball down the ground with great force and the veteran spinner held onto a fine return catch.

Earlier in the over, Ashwin had gotten the wicket of Nehal Wadhera for nine runs caught by wicketkeeper MS Dhoni. At the end of the eighth over, PBKS had lost two wickets but were scoring well above 10 runs per over to be placed at 83 for the loss of five wickets.
Chennai Super Kings looking at yet another 180 plus chase
Left-arm seamers Mukesh Choudhary and Khaleel Ahmed began well for CSK to reduce the hosts to 54 for three in the fifth over. Mukesh Choudhary flattened Prabhsimran Singh’s leg stump for a second ball duck. Khaleel Ahmed then got the wicket of Shreyas Iyer for nine runs and Marcus Stoinis for four.
Priyansh Arya had given his team a great start with the bat by hitting the first ball of the game for a six. PBKS played with aggression in a bid to show that the loss in the last game to Rajasthan Royals was just a blip. Ruturaj Gaikwad was left clueless as his bowlers were spanked all over the park by the PBKS batters.
Mukesh Choudhary could have helped CSK get the key wicket of Arya but the seamer made a schoolboy error to deny Ashwin the wicket. PBKS batter went for a huge hit but couldn’t time the ball well and Choudhary, who was fielding at the boundary, took the catch. Much to the shock of the bowler and the CSK, Choudhary stepped onto the ropes as the umpire signalled six runs in favour of the batter.
