Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ninth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday. Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma is set to be at the centre of attention as the Men in Blue and Gold take to the field. Rohit had scored a duck in the last game against Chennai Super Kings last Sunday.
Ahead of the game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, special prayers are being performed for the 37-year-old. There is a short video that is doing the rounds where few people could be seen praying for Rohit with his picture near ‘Shiv Ling’. Rohit’s fans want the veteran batter to do well after a poor start to the season.

Hardik Pandya is set to make his return to the side after missing the last game against CSK. The 31-year-old was handed a one-match ban after maintaining a slow over-rate in the final game of the IPL 2024 season against Lucknow Super Giants. Pandya was seen meeting and greeting his former GT teammates, with whom he had won the title in 2022.
Former India player questions critics over constant comments on India’s veteran duo
Meanwhile, Yograj Singh has slammed critics over their constant criticism of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. India’s iconic veteran duo was the key to success in the latest Champions Trophy-winning team. Kohli was the second highest run-getter for India, while Rohit had scored a match winning 76 runs in the finals against New Zealand.
Speaking to former Under-19 World Cup winner Taruwar Kohli on the latter’s podcast, Yograj Singh said, “If anyone doesn't perform, you say drop Rohit Sharma, drop Virat Kohli. Why drop anyone? They are going through a bad phase; help them out, and assist them. I'd say come on boys, I'm with you. Let's play Ranji; let's do some practice. Rohit, let's run 20 km and do training. Nobody's willing to do that. Everyone's like, get them out.”
The former India player added, “They aren't someone you send out, they are guys whom you look after, take care of. I love them like my own, never differentiated between them and Yuvraj Singh. Even with MS Dhoni, for instance. I consider him like my son, but what's wrong is wrong."
