Australian batters played well to post a competitive score on the board in the first semi-finals of the Champions Trophy 2025. Fifties from Steve Smith and Alex Carey helped the Men in Yellow go past 260 runs on the board. Shreyas Iyer produced a great throw to dismiss Carey for 61 runs.
The incident in question happened in the first ball of the 48th over of the innings. Pandya bowled a slower short ball that Carey pulled to the backward square leg region and set off for a single and wanted to come for a second run. Iyer came running in and swooped down to pick the ball and hit the stumps on the field.

Once the batter was out, there was huge jubilation in the Indian camp. It was a key moment of the game as Carey was batting well and could have taken Australia to a huge total on the board. In the end, the Aussies were all out for 26,4 which is the highest total in Dubai in this year’s Champions Trophy.
