Gujarat Titans (GT) climbed to second spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 table with a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). It was a convincing win for Shubman Gill and his side that hadn’t put a foot down wrong after winning the toss. It began with Mohammed Siraj taking four wickets and restricting SRH to 152 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Sherfane Rutherford came to bat as the impact player and was not out on 35 runs from just 16 balls. The left-handed batter hit six fours and a six to help the Titans seal the win with seven wickets. In the first ball of the 17th over, Pat Cummins bowled a short ball and Rutherford rocked back onto the backfoot and hit the ball for a searing six.
SRH’s skipper could only look away with a resigned look on his face as the ball travelled 91 meters. The West Indian batter then hit yet another four to bring his team closer to the target. Shubman Gill then took a single to give the Titans their third win in succession to condemn SRH to their fourth successive loss.
‘Bowlers are game changers’ – Shubman Gill praises team effort after win
Shubman Gill was a happy captain after seeing his side beat SRH by seven wickers. Speaking at the end of the game, Gill said “Bowlers are game-changers, especially in this format. Lot of people talk about T20s, batting and hitting, but we think matches are won by bowlers and that is why a lot of emphasis on bowlers”
When asked to shed light on the chat with Washington Sundar during their third-wicket stand, Gill said “You still have to play cricketing shots - that was the chat between me and Washington. To have good intent and play some shots on the floor. It was all about having a good partnership, and we said once we are set, we will take it from there”
Gill also praised Siraj for his bowling effort and said “The energy Siraj brings is tremendous. When playing against him, you want him in your team. His energy is infectious”. The 31-year-old was named the player of the game for his figures of four for 17 from his allotted four overs.
