Veteran South African spinner Senuran Muthusamy spun his magic with the ball during the SA20 2025 game on Friday. The left-arm spinner ended with figures of 3/21 from his four overs during the Durban Super Giants versus Pretoria Capitals game at the Kingsmead ground in Durban.
Muthusamy was brought into the attack after Durban got off to a great start, scoring 66 runs in the first six overs. Matthew Breetzke was batting well on 33 when he tried to hit the ball through the covers for a boundary. The ball went into the hands of Rilee Rossouw, who took an easy catch as the bowler didn’t celebrate the wicket. This created a bit of confusion among the spectators and commentators, who wondered if the catch was a clean one.

Bryce Parson was the next man to be dismissed as he went for an ugly hoick across the line only to be castled by the bowler. Parsons was out for 47 runs from 28 balls with the help of five hits to the fence and two huge sixes. Meanwhile, Matthew Breetzke scored his 33 off 20 balls with five boundaries and one huge pick-up shot for six.
Durban Super Giants make solid start to their season
It was Durban skipper Keshav Maharaj who won the toss and chose to bat first and said, “Pitch looks good, looks dry. Hopefully we can get some runs on the board. Going on the local knowledge, hopefully that's enough. From year one to two, we did something really special. Hopefully we can go all the way this year.”
Rilee Rossouw, the Pretoria skipper, said, “Would've done the same. Whatever we get, we have to contain them and try and get it. Captaincy is something I haven't had a chance to do before; grateful to get an opportunity here at the Pretoria Capitals.”
Durban began with spinner Kyle Simmonds bowling the first over and conceding just 7 runs. Eathan Bosch then conceded just four runs in the next over to keep the home team batters under control. Durban batters opened their arms in the third over as Daryn Dupavillion was smashed for 16 runs.
Eathan Bosch then conceded 14 runs in his second over as Durban raced to 41/0 in four overs. Kyle Simmonds was hit for four boundaries in a single over, with three coming in the final three balls off his over to Bryce Parsons. 49 runs were scored three overs as the home team moved to 60/0 from five overs. Muthusamy got his third scalp when he had the wicket of Quinton De Kock for 15 caught by Eathan Bosch.
