Australian pace bowler Scott Boland struck a huge blow after lunch to dismiss Virat Kohli for 17 runs. The incident occurred in the third ball of the 32nd over of the innings. Boland bowled the perfect ball that caught Kohli’s edge and the ball flew to Beau Webster who took a stunning catch.

Kohli was out caught behind the wicket yet again in the series. The former India skipper was out for 17 runs from 69 balls without hitting a boundary. This builds new pressure on Kohli as fresh set of questions will be asked about his place in the side. Barring his century during the first Test, Kohli has failed to perform with the bat during the series.

This is also the fourth time Kohli has fallen to Scott Boland and all of the dismissals have been caught behind the wicket. The wicket left India in a huge spot of bother leaving them 76/4 after 32 overs. The 36-yerar-old had survived a close call in his very first ball when the catch claimed by Australia was given in the batter’s favor.

Australia leaves India in huge spot of bother

Needing a win to retain the BGT and also keep their WTC finals hopes alive, India won the toss and batted first. Australia are currently leading the series 2-1 and just need to win or draw the game at the SCG to knock India out of contention. Mitchell Starc struck first when he had the wicket of KL Rahul for four runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal who had scored 82 and 84 at the MCG was out for just ten runs caught by Carey off Boland. Young Shubman Gill played a reckless shot last ball before lunch to be caught in the slips by Smith off Lyon for 20 runs. The batter had hit 2 fours in his knock that came off 64 balls.

Scott Boland meanwhile celebrated the wicket of Kohli with great delight having been denied his wicket earlier. The Australian players surrounded Beau Webster and congratulated him for taking the catch on his Test debut.
