In the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL)'s 14th match, Saint Lucia Kings' skipper Faf du Plessis wreaked havoc on the Nevis Patriots' bowlers as he produced a magnificent match-winning knock. Opening the innings for the team, Du Plessis scored 62 runs off 31 balls, including five boundaries and five sixes. He dominated the bowlers throughout the innings and led the team to victory.

Moreover, his opening partner, Charles Johnson, followed his captain's footsteps and smashed a half-century as well. Both the batters gave a dream start to the innings, where Johnson scored 74 runs off 42 balls, including four boundaries and seven massive sixes. They made an opening partnership of 115 runs in 10.4 overs.

The Kings went on to win the match by five wickets while chasing a target of 176 runs. It was a wonderful match as the Patriots' bowling attack failed massively in front of the attacking openers. However, Wanindu Hasaranga and Josh Clarkson took two wickets each. Charles Johnson got the Player of the Match award for a hammering performance.

I would've loved to finish it off for the team: Charles Johnson

The POTM Charles Johnson was elated as his team won the game, thanks to his brilliant knock along with skipper Faf du Plessis. While talking at the presentation ceremony, he mentioned that he wanted to finish the match which would have been the Cherry on the Cake. However, he was still happy with the team's performance and the way they pulled off this win. With this win, they have moved to third place with three wins in five matches.

"It was a very good innings but I would've loved to finish it off for the team. Opening with Faf has always been good. We feed off of each other. It's lovely, the supporters came out in numbers and it shows how wonderful they are," said Charles Johnson in the post-match presentation.
