Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was an emotional man as he saw his team come back from the dead in the T20 World Cup final on Saturday. South Africa needed 16 runs from the last over to win the match and the title fell short by 7 runs. Once the final ball was bowled, Rohit Sharma lay flat on the ground and was enjoying the moment.

The 37-year-old then was seen with an Indian flag at the end of the game. Rohit Sharma then was seen putting the Indian flag on the ground. This was an emotional moment for the Indian skipper who had led the team well during the tournament.

It was also a perfect reminder of what Jay Shah had said when Rohit Sharma was named the captain of the tournament. Earlier this year, Jay Shah had said, “We may have lost the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, but we won hearts thereby winning 10 matches in a row. I am confident that India will lift the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy at Barbados.”

Rohit Sharma realizes a billion Indian dreams.

It was an emotional moment for India, as they won the T20 World Cup to end their wait for an ICC title. Rohit Sharma and his team became the first-ever side to win the tournament without losing a game during the tournament.

At the end of the game, Rohit Sharma said “Very hard to sum up what we have been through for the last 3-4 years. To be honest, we worked very hard as individuals and as a team, a team, a lot has gone on behind the scenes for us to be here today and win this game. It is not what we did today, it is what we have been doing for the last 3-4 years”

India's skipper had led well with the bat as he scored two successive fifties during the last two games. Rohit Sharma could score just 9 runs with the bat on Saturday, as he fell to Keshav Maharaj in the second over of the game. In the end, Rohit was the happiest man on the field as his team did the nation proud.

The Indian skipper also said “We have played lots of high-pressure games in the past as well and have been on the wrong side as well. But the guys understand what needs to be done. Today was the perfect example of when the back is against the wall, what is required. We stuck together as a team and the guys, all of us, even when at one point it was looking South Africa's way. Overall, as a team, as a group on the field, we wanted this bad. We wanted to win this”
