At the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just 17 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, continuing his dismal play in the 2025 Indian Premier League.  In the 20th game of the current IPL 2025 in Mumbai, supporters were anticipating a great comeback from the seasoned Indian opener against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru after he missed the team's most recent game against the Lucknow Super Giants owing to injury.

In the game against RCB Rohit Sharma showed good intentions by hitting two fours and a six early in his inning, but Yash Dayal clean bowled him for just 17 runs off of 9 balls. Fans were shaken up by his early departure once more, and cricket experts and fans criticised his continued inability to hit the bat. The five-time IPL champions have lost again this season, falling 12 runs short of the 222-run mark against the RCB at the Wankhede Stadium, while Rohit has once again failed with the bat. MI had lost four of its five tournament games thus far.
