Speaking at the end of the game, Hardik who was seen laughing after his wicket said to Axar Patel, “I was smiling. I mean, I didn't think of hitting two sixes. I knew it would happen anytime. But I knew that people must have gotten a little tense in the dressing room. I was laughing a little inside."
Axar Patel who was interviewing Pandya on BCCI’s official channel said, “You didn't think about what will happen inside? We were thinking, ‘hey, run twos, run singles’. But I knew. I had trust in you. I was just observing the environment around me."
Former India skipper praises KL Rahul ahead of massive final
Indian wicketkeeper and batter KL Rahul played a key role in India’s win over Australia in the first semi-finals. The 32-year-old stayed not out on 42 runs off 34 balls and hit two fours and two sixes in his knock. The second six was the moment that India sealed the win with 11 balls to spare.
Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble has urged Gautam Gambhir to let Rahul bat higher up the order. During his chat on ESPN CRICINFO, Kumble said “There is a lot of pressure on him. If he does well, it's expected. If he fails even in one innings, suddenly the whole world comes after him. He was under pressure, even with his keeping in the last game, but today he showed what he is capable of."
The 54-year-old also added “Rahul should have come ahead of Axar Patel. I know Axar did a good job of getting that partnership with Virat Kohli but someone like KL Rahul coming in at that stage and this is what he can do - if he gets to 30, he will ensure that you cross the line. He does that and he does that consistently. Yes, he missed out on one opportunity in the last game against New Zealand, but otherwise KL is a class act. This will certainly give him a lot of confidence."
