India's disappointing performance with the bat continues as the team has lost six wickets while chasing a score of 147 runs in the ongoing 3rd Test match against New Zealand. The Indian bowlers did well in dismissing the Kiwis under 200 runs, but the batters struggled hard against the spin attack. However, captain Rohit Sharma remains the only player to have been dismissed by pacers four times in the series. In the ongoing match, Matt Henry dismissed him in both innings.
Moreover, in the 2nd inning, he was dismissed by playing his favourite pull shot, which was shocking for the viewers. Rohit is known for playing this shot really well, and getting out on that ball might have hurt the batter. He was batting beautifully on day three along with Jaiswal as India came into bat. However, things changed drastically after Rohit threw his wicket after scoring 11 runs.

After his wicket, India lost five wickets at regular intervals, putting pressure on Rishabh Pant. By lunch, India's score was 92-6, but they still need 55 runs to win the game. Pant got out on 64 runs while Washington Sundar is playing on 9 runs. If the batters handle the game well, India will win their first match in the series.
Who is responsible for India's poor performance in home series against New Zealand?
After displaying a dominating performance against Bangladesh, India have failed to maintain their standards in the 3-match Test series against New Zealand. After the series loss, the real question that arises is who is responsible for this? Some senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are going through a massive downfall in their careers, haunting the team. The young players did try their best, but winning a Test match isn't really possible without enough support.
Management can also be blamed for making bad decisions during the tournament. For instance, in the first innings of the 3rd Test match, Mohammed Siraj was sent ahead of Virat Kohli as a night watchman. However, he went out on the very first and also wasted one DRS. Similarly, there have been several instances where Indian management has made serious decisions that didn't go in favor of the team.
This is the time for the selectors and the Board to make some serious changes in the team before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, or else India can forget the qualification for the upcoming WTC 2025 finals.
