Bringing the trophy of 2024 was also very important for us: Rohit Sharma

Captain Rohit Sharma remembered the time when they won the T20 WC in Barbados, and the team was excited to bring the trophy back home. It was an exciting time as India won the trophy after a long wait. It's the same with the Champions Trophy as well. India haven't won the CT in the last 12 years, which is a long time. Hence, the skipper is pretty excited about bringing the Trophy back home.

"I remember, we were still in Barbados after winning the World Cup, and we were stuck there due to a storm, but planning was in process as to what we would do once we were back in India. It was planned that we would go to Delhi, but what after that? No one knew what to do after that, but I wanted that World Cup (trophy) should come here to Wankhede. Each of the recent World Cups we have won in 2007 and 2011 has been celebrated at Wankhede, and bringing the trophy of 2024 was also very important for us," said Rohit Sharma, during the event.
