Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has lavished praise on Karun Nair for his run-scoring form recently. The 33-year-old has taken the Vijay Hazare Trophy by storm with 752 runs so far in the tournament and has been dismissed just once ahead of the final game. Vidarbha, led by Nair, is set to play his former side Karnataka in the final match on Saturday.
Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and wrote, “Scoring 752 runs in 7 innings with 5 centuries is nothing short of extraordinary, @karun126. Performances like these don’t just happen; they come from immense focus and hard work. Keep going strong and make every opportunity count!”

It’s great that more importance is being given to domestic cricket. Though 33, but with the kind ofdomestic one day season Karun Nair has had, it would be good to see him for the ODI’s against England. Would also help in motivating players to play and perform in domestic cricket

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar’s former teammate Venkatesh Prasad also took to Twitter and wrote, “It’s great that more importance is being given to domestic cricket. Though 33, but with the kind of domestic one day season Karun Nair has had, it would be good to see him for the ODI’s against England. Would also help in motivating players to play and perform in domestic cricket.”
Karun Nair hopes for national recall amidst batting purple patch
33-year-old Karun Nair last played for India in 2017, when he was part of the side that won the Dharamshala Test against Australia. The right-handed batter is famous for scoring an unbeaten 303 against England in 2016 during the Chennai Test match. This was just the second time any Indian batter had managed to score a Test triple ton.
During his chat with PTI, Nair said, “The dream is always to play for the country. So, yes, the dream is still alive. That’s the reason we play this game—to play for your country. So, the one and only goal was to play for the country."
The veteran Indian batter also said, “I think this is my third comeback. And I need to keep doing what I am doing at the moment. Keep scoring runs whenever I can in every single game that I play. That’s the most that I can do. Everything else is not in my control. But till it happens, it’s just a dream. It’s still not there yet. But again, like I said, I would like to focus on one innings at a time.”
