India were in a huge spot of bother during the third and final T20I match versus Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Riyan Parag along with Shubman Gill were the only two batters to put up some resistance with the bat against an inspired Sri Lankan bowling unit.

Riyan Parag scored 26 runs on what was a tough wicket to bat on with enough pace and spin on offer. With India struggling with the bat and the run-rate just above 6 runs per over, Riyan Parag welcomed Hasaranga with a huge six off the first ball of the 14th over.

After playing a dot ball, the youngster hit Hasaranga for a second six in the over this time over the mid-wicket region. All of a sudden the Indian side were looking like they could stage a fightback.

It was a day to remember for the Sri Lankan spinners as they didn’t let the Indian team settle down. Maheesh Theekshana got the opening wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal for 10 and Chamindu Wickramasinghe then got the scalp of Sanju Samson for his 2nd duck in two games.

Maheesh Theekshana struck once more when he had the key wicket of Rinku Singh for 1. Suryakumar Yadav then became the 4th wicket of the day when Asitha Fernando had the Indian skipper caught by Hasaranga for 8.

Shivam Dube and Shubman Gill added 18 runs for the 5th wicket before Dube was out for 13 runs. Ramesh Mendis had the Indian all-rounder caught behind by Kusal Mendis to leave India at 48/5.

Riyan Parag and Shubman Gill then came together and added 54 runs for the 6th wicket in 40 balls. That stand was broken when Hasaranga first dismissed Gill out stumped for 39 off 37 balls with 3 fours. Three balls later Riyan Parag was out for 26 when he holed out to Ramesh Mendis to give Hasaranga his second wicket.

Sri Lanka had won the toss and chose to bowl first and made one change to the team. India on the other hand made four changes to the side as they rested some of their key players for the game.
