India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is known for getting second chances, be it in life or a cricket game. On day two of the first Test match against New Zealand, Pant survived as wicket-keeper Tom Blundell dropped an easy catch, giving a lifeline to the batter. It was a super easy catch as the ball came to the keeper, but Blundell misjudged it, and it slipped out of his hands. In the 14th over, William ORourke bowledย a full delivery wide of off, and Pant chased the drive. However, it looked like the ball came off the toe-end.

Well, this isn't the first time Pant has gotten a chance on the field while batting. He's been quite lucky throughout his career and has taken advantage of his chances. In this game, too, he has to show his potential since India are already six wickets down in just 34 runs.ย

The New Zealand bowlers are on a roll, as they have taken regular wickets on day two. They are using the weather conditions to swing the ball, which has helped them get wickets. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal's wicket was quite unfortunate as he hit a beautiful shot but couldn't place it properly, so it went straight to the fielder.ย

India's batters' disappointing performance in 1st Test match

Four Indian batters travelled back to the pavilion after getting out on a duck on the second day of the 1st Test match against New Zealand. It was a good toss to lose for the Kiwis, as they also wanted to bat first. Taking the weather conditions into control, they went with three fierce-paced bowlers, who gave them results. India are down by six wickets at just 34 runs before lunch which is concerning.ย

Now, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin will have to take the team's responsibility and bat well, keeping India's score in mind. This Test series is extremely important for India to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) finals, scheduled on June 2025.ย
