WATCH: Rishabh Pant does light batting practice during tea interval in Bengaluru Test

Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant was seen practicing after suffering an injury to his knee during the third day of the Bengaluru Test on Friday.

Indian cricket fans finally got something to cheer as they saw Rishabh Pant batting during the tea interval. The 27-year-old was seen batting with one pad on his leg as the rest of the Indian team management looked on. Pant had injured himself on the 2nd day while keeping wicket after Devon Conway’s shot hit him on his knee. 

Dhruv Jurel came out to keep wickets as Pant was taken off the field. When play started on Friday, the 27-year-old was nowhere to be seen Jurel continued doing the keeping duties. New Zealand were all out for 402 with an overall lead of 356 as Rachin Ravindra scored a terrific ton.

Many fans will hope that Pant can come out to bat and regain full fitness. It is important for India to have their star wicketkeeper back not only for the last two Test. Rohit Sharma and his side will want Pant to be fit in time for the Australian tour in November. 

India loses Yashasvi Jaiswal post-tea 

Needing 357 runs to make New Zealand bat again, India went into Tea at 72 for no loss. Rohit Sharma was batting well past 30 with Yashasvi Jaiswal on 35. Just after the tea break, India’s opener tried to give Ajaz Patel the charge. Tom Blundell whipped off the bails to give New Zealand their 1st wicket in the second innings. 

Rachin Ravindra scored his 2nd Test ton as he was out for 134 off 157 balls. The left-handed batter got to his century in fine style as he swept Ashwin for a four. It was a welcome as the young Kiwi returned home to his roots in Bengaluru. 

At one stage the visiting side were placed 234/7 but Tim Southee and Rachin Ravindra steadied the ship. The pair added 137 runs for the 8th wicket in just 125 balls as Southee was out for 65 off 72 balls. Mohammed Siraj broke the stand with a slower ball as Ravindra Jadeja took an easy catch. Kuldeep Yadav got the final two wickets as he dismissed Ajaz Patel and Rachin Ravindra.
