New Zealand star batter Rachin Ravindra scored an amazing century in Bengaluru to put his side in complete command of the game. At Lunch, New Zealand raced to 345/7 from 81 overs having scored 165 runs from 31 overs for the loss of four wickets. Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah were the only wicket-takers for India.

At lunch, Ravindra was batting on 104 with Tim Southee on 49. Rohit Sharma hesitated in bringing back Bumrah for a 2nd spell that saw the 8th wicket pair add over 100 runs. The visitors now have an overall lead of 299 runs to put India under tremendous pressure on a crumbling wicket.

Batting on 99 runs, Rachin Ravindra swept Ashwin for a four and let out a roar. The left-handed batter reached a very well-played 2nd Test ton in front of his home fans. Last year, the Kiwi star scored a terrific ton during the 2023 ODI World Cup at the same venue against Pakistan.

New Zealand is in complete control of Bengaluru Test

Rohit Sharma and his men came out to the field on the 3rd day looking to grab early wickets. Daryl Mitchell played a few streak shots to get the scoring going. Mohammed Siraj had Mitchell going for a drive only to be caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the gully for 18.

Glenn Phillips came out with aggressive intent in his mind as he hit Ashwin for a huge six. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Phillips when the Kiwi saw his stumps being shattered while going for a cut shot. Tom Blundell became Bumrah’s 1st wicket of the game as he was caught by KL Rahul in the slips.

Matt Henry hit two fours before he too was castled by Jadeja to leave New Zealand at 234/7. From there it was the Ravindra and Southee show as the pair batted with aggression. The 58 runs were scored from the last 4 overs before lunch as Indian bowlers looked clueless.

The one saving grace for India is that they will have the new ball at their disposal post-the interval. Jasprit Bumrah will expected to run through the lower order with just Ajaz Patel and William O Rourke left to bat.
