Rajasthan Royals (RR) took on Lucknow Super Giants in match number 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday. Riyan Parag replaced Sanju Samson as the captain of the side after the 30-year-old had injured himself while batting in the previous game. Rishabh Pant created a hilarious moment at toss time that reminded many fans of Rohit Sharma’s forgetful nature.

The incident happened when Parag flicked the coin in the air but Pant forgot to make the call. Simon Doull, who was overseeing proceedings at the toss, said, “Looks like we will have to go again.” The cameras then panned to the two captains as Pant asked Parag, “Tune aise hi phenk dia?" When the toss was conducted for a second time, it was Pant who called it right and chose to bat first. 

Both sides made one change each to their team, with Prince Yadav coming in for Akash Deep. For RR, it was Vaibhav Suryavanshi who made his debut as the youngster was named in the impact player’s bench. The left-handed batter became the youngster player to be given debut in IPL history. 

Lucknow Super Giants lose three early wickets

Rishabh Pant’s decision to bat first after winning the toss backfire as LSG were placed at 63 for three at the end of nine overs. As the sides went into the first time-out Aiden Markram was batting with Ayush Badoni as the Rajasthan’s bowlers kept LSG’s batters under a tight leash. 

Mitchell Marsh who has been one of the best batters for LSG this season, was the first man to be dismissed, Marsh went for a big shot but only managed to get a top edge off his bat. Shimron Hetmyer came running in and took a fine diving catch to give Jofra Archer his first wicket. 

Dangerous West Indian batter Nicholas Pooran scored two crisp boundaries to get his innings going. Sandeep Sharma then bowled a full ball that hit Pooran flush on his ankle and the umpire gave it out. Pooran decided to review the call but the TV umpire saw the ball crashing into the stumps as the batter had to make his way back to the hut for 11 runs. Rishabh Pant then fell for three runs when Dhruv Jurel took a sharp catch to aid Hasaranga claim his first wicket.
