Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a terrific comeback in their Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday. Rishabh Pant had won the toss and chose to bowl first and saw Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan add 120 runs for the opening wicket in 12.1 overs. Ravi Bishnoi then struck twice in a single over to ensure the Titans don’t post a massive total on the board.

On the first ball of the 14th over, Sai Sudharsan tried to hit Bishnoi over the top but saw the ball land safely in Nicholas Pooran’s hands. Sudharsan was out after scoring 56 runs from 37 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. The young batter had scored 82 in the last game that saw the Titans beat Rajasthan Royals.

The second wicket in the over was that of Washington Sundar, who was out after scoring just two runs. The left-handed batter chopped the ball back onto his own stumps to give Bishnoi his second wicket of the day. Bishnoi ended with figures of two for 36 from his four overs and helped LSG turn the tide against the rampaging Titans batters.

Skipper Shubman Gill and in-form batter Sai Sudharsan came out to open the batting and Sudharsan hit Shardul Thakur for a four on the first ball of the game. Akash Deep continued his indifferent start to IPL 2025 by giving away 13 runs in his opening over. The seamer was hit for two fours in the over before Thakur and Digvesh Rathi pulled things back in control with just 16 being scored from the next two overs.

At the end of six overs, GT were placed at 54 for no loss and Pant decided to employ Bishnoi just after the powerplay. The spinner began by giving away 12 runs in the over, with both Gill and Sudharsan putting the bowler under pressure with two sweetly timed fours. The pair brought up the century stand in the fifth ball of the 10th over and were placed at 103 for no loss at the halfway stage of the innings.

Avesh Khan broke the opening stand when he had Shubman Gill caught by Aiden Markram for 60 runs. Gill’s innings came from 38 balls with six boundaries and a six. Jos Buttler scored 16 runs off 14 balls with two hits to the fence. Digvesh Rathi got the former England skipper caught well by Shardul Thakur in the 17th over.
