Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their penultimate match of IPL 2025 on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It was RR who won the toss and chose to bowl first. CSK lost Devon Conway and Urvil Patel early in the space of three balls to Yudhvir Singh Charak. Ravichandran Ashwin was sent to out bat at number four and the veteran spinner played an amazing flick shot for six.

The incident in questioned happened in the fourth ball of Yudhvir’s second over of the game. The pacer bowled a delivery on Ashwin’s pads and the formed India player played a perfect flick shot off his pads for a huge six over the deep square leg region. In the previous ball, Ashwin had played a brilliant shot off his hips for four runs. 

Win for Chennai Super Kings will help them move above the Royals in the points table. Before the game, CSK were placed bottom of the table, while RR were placed ninth. This is the final game of the season for the Royals while CSK still has one more game left to play this season. 

Yudhvir Singh runs riot with the ball to deflate CSK

Having been put into bat, Chennai lost veteran New Zealand batter Devon Conway for 10 runs. The left-handed batter tried to charge the bowler and mistimed the shot and Riyan Parag took an easy grab. Urvil Patel was then out two ball later when he tried to go for a big shot and Kwena Maphaka took his first catch of the night. 

Ayush Mhatre then began to attack the bowlers as he smashed two fours off Tushar Deshpande in the third over of the innings. Yudhvir Singh was hit for 24 runs off his second over which two fours and two sixes to give CSK the much needed momentum. Maphaka who was bowling his first over of the innings was also hit for two fours by Mhatre. 

The 17-year-old batter continued to show his aggression with three successive fours off Tushar Deshpande in the final over before the powerplay. Deshpande had the last laugh when he dismissed by his Ranji teammate caught by Maphaka for 20-ball 43 runs. Ashwin was out for 13 when his attempted big hit was caught by Shimron Hetmyer to give Hasaranga his first wicket. Ravindra Jadeja was then out for one caught by Dhruv Jurel that earned Yudhvir his third wicket to leave CSK reeling at 78 for five.
