Team India were on the ropes in the Finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 game against South Africa. Axar Patel was the savior for the Indian side as he played a pivotal knock of 47 to pull India out of the woods. It was a crucial knock as India were 34/3 at one stage.

Keshav Maharaj had struck two blows by removing Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. Suryakumar Yadav was then out for 3 when Heinrich Klaasen took a good diving catch off Rabada to put India in deep trouble.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the Indian innings as Virat Kohli went for a huge pull and mistimed the ball. Quinton De Kock saw that Axar Patel had ventured way down the track and threw the ball to the stumps. Axar Patel was short of the crease as the South Africans celebrated and Axar Patel was out for 47.

Virat Kohli’s knock helps India reach 176

The star of the show for India with the bat was former skipper Virat Kohli. The 35-year-old came to form at the right time as he scored his first fifty of the tournament. Virat Kohli scored 76 runs from 59 balls as he hit 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Shivam Dube who has been called out for his non-performance so far scored 27 runs from 16 balls. The left-handed batter hit three fours and a single six in his knock as helped India gain the impetus in the final overs of the innings.

Axar Patel added 72 runs for the 4th wicket in 9 overs as the batter scored 47 runs from 31 balls with 1 boundary and four huge sixes. Earlier in the India were 34/3 inside 5 overs after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first.

The Indian skipper hit two sweet shots for fours before falling to Keshav Maharaj. India then lost Rishabh Pant for a duck and Suryakumar Yadav for 3 with the South African bowlers mounting pressure with the ball.
