Debutant batter Priyansh Arya made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday. The left-handed batter shot to fame when he hit six maximums in a over during a game in the Delhi Premier League last season. The young batter began with a terrific boundary in the first over of the game off Mohammed Siraj.

In the fourth ball of the second over, which was bowled by Kagiso Rabada, the young batter went in for a huge hit. Priyansh couldn’t time the ball well as Arshad Khan and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan came under the ball to complete the catch. Arshad Khan made a meal of the catch and dropped an easy chance.

Punjab Kings made an amazing start to the game as they raced to 73 runs for the loss of one wicket from their six overs. Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first. Former England skipper Jos Buttler and Indian seamer Mohammed Siraj were one of the few debutants for the Titans.

The first two overs of the game saw 16 runs being scored with Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada giving away eight runs each. The young batter then opened up and hit Siraj for a six and a four in successive balls as 12 runs were scored in third over of the innings. Kagiso Rabada struck in the first ball of the fourth over when he had Prabhsimran Singh caught by Arshad Khan for five runs.

PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer came to the crease and scored 14 runs off five balls off Rabada which included a four and a six. Shubman Gill brought Arshad Khan into the attack and the left-arm seamer saw 21 runs being scored from the over. Arya hit the pacer for three fours and a six in what was a huge over for the visiting side.

Two more boundaries were hit in the final over before the powerplay ended as PBKS got off to a terrific start. Rashid Khan then ended Arya’s knock as the batter went for a big shot and ended up offering a simple catch to Sai Sudharsan. The young batter scored 47 off just 23 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes.
