England opener Phil Salt looked in terrific form in the first ODI game against India as he bashed newcomer Harshit Rana for 26 runs in a single over. As the game began, Salt's attacking performance started when he hit the first boundary in the fourth ball of the second over. He didn't stop and continued with his stellar performance. In the sixth over, he smashed 6,4,6,4,0,6 runs off Rana, leaving the bowler in shock.

All of the shots were classic hits by Salt. However, he was run out by Shreyas Iyer in the last ball of the ninth over, which was pretty unfortunate due to the mix-up that happened between him and Ben Duckett. Salt scored 43 runs off 26 balls, including five boundaries and three sixes. Soon after this, Duckett was dismissed and became the first wicket of Harshit Rana.

Rana went on to dismiss Harry Brook in the same over, taking his second wicket of the game. After being hit for 26 runs, he made a solid comeback by taking two back-to-back wickets and giving India the much-needed breakthrough. England made a pretty good start in the game but failed to continue it.

Virat Kohli misses first game against England

Due to a knee injury, Virat Kohli missed the first game against England. Rohit Sharma revealed that Kohli sustained an injury last night, and hence, Yashasvi Jaiswal was picked up in place of him. Kohli's inclusion in the team is much-needed for India as the Champions Trophy 2025 is approaching.

Jaiswal went on to grab a stunning catch and dismiss Ben Duckett, who was batting 32 runs. His involvement in the game became evident by the way he was attentive on the field. If England manage to put up a good total on the board, Jaiswal will have to score runs and try to cement his place in the team.
