It took just 21 balls to end India’s innings at 369 with Nitish Kumar Reddy being the last man out for 114. There was immediate drama early on day four of the MCG Test match when Pat Cummins bowled to Mohammed Siraj. The incident in question took place in the final ball of the 119th over of India’s innings.
Australian skipper Pat Cummins was bowling around the wicket when the ball took the edge of Siraj’s bat and flew to the slips. Australian players seemed convinced that they had got the wicket but the two umpires went up to check the call. Siraj survived as the third umpire deemed that the ball had bounced on the ground before being caught in the slips.

The big screen quickly flashed ‘Not Out’ and this is where the drama began. Pat Cummins seemed certain that the catch was taken clean. The Australian skipper was seen asking for DRS but the umpires did not accept it. Cummins could be seen walking off confused after the not-out call was made. Even the commentators were left stunned after such a quick call by the umpires.
Australia seizes sizeable lead on day 4 of MCG Test
Three balls after the entire Cummins and Siraj fiasco, India’s innings were done and dusted. Centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy tried to hit Nathan Lyon over the top only for Mitchell Starc to take the catch. Reddy scored 114 runs from 189 balls with 11 fours and a six.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 82 and fifty by Washington Sundar helped India reach closer to Australia’s 1st innings total. Rohit Sharma will hope his bowlers can come out all guns firing and bowl out the hosts early to keep India in the game. Team India cannot afford to lose this game if they hope to make it to the WTC finals.
Pat Cummins, Scott Boland, and Nathan Lyon shared three wickets between themselves. Boland in particular had the best figures with 3/57 from 27 overs with seven maiden overs. This included the wickets of Virat Kohli for 36, Akash Deep for a duck and Rishabh Pant for 28.
