Team India were reduced to 51/2 on day two of the Melbourne Test match while chasing the 474-run scored by Australia in their 1st innings. Pat Cummins was the best bowler for the hosts in the short second session as he picked 2 key wickets. KL Rahul who has been India’s best batter so far this series was bowled neck and crop for 24.
The incident occurred in the final ball before Tea as Cummins' bowling over the wicket pitched the ball at the right length. Rahul seemed to have no clue as the ball whizzed past his bat to disturb the stumps. The Indian batter had a clueless look on his face as the two sides trudged off Tea with the hosts in firm command.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting on 23 and the stand with Rahul was worth 43 runs. Earlier in the session, Cummins dismissed Rohit Sharma for 3 runs. Indian skipper went for short arm pull against a short ball only to be caught by Scott Boland. With 36 overs left in the day, the visitors have a mountain to climb against an inspired Aussie bowling unit.
Ricky Ponting slams Rohit Sharma’s shot selection
Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting wasn’t happy with the way Rohit Sharma got out on Friday. Indian skipper has scored a total of 22 runs from 4 innings with an average of 5.5; Rohit’s dismissal in the recent few games at home against New Zealand and current tour of Australia have come under massive speculations.
Ponting during his commentary stint said, “That's just a lazy, not switched on, not up for the moment type of shot. He's been known as one of the best hookers and pullers of the ball since he's made his debut but that's just not there. It's nothing. It's not committed, not really looking to be aggressive, he's just looking to tap it on the head."
The 50-year-old also added, “Might have held in the wicket yes, it might have seamed away from him a fraction. But if you're going to survive against this Australian attack, you've got to be switched on. You've got to be making good decisions. If you're not, they'll knock you over every time."
