The defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC), won their first game of the season against the Durban Super Giants (DSG) in the ongoing SA20 2025. It was an incredible game of cricket, with both the batters and bowlers putting on a strong performance.
Meanwhile, during the second innings of the match, Sunrisers' Ottniel Baartman dismantled the stumps of Quinton de Kock and provided the much-needed wicket to the team. The left-handed batter was playing on 21 runs off 18 balls when Baartman came running down the pitch and bowled a full-length delivery from around the wicket. De Kock tried to hit the ball but missed it, and the stumps were uprooted. It was a brilliant piece of bowling, deceiving the batter really well.

DSG lost the game by 58 runs, helping SEC open their winning account in the tournament. In the first innings, Tom Bethell hammered 57 runs off 39 balls, hitting five boundaries. Also, Noor Ahmed claimed a four-wicket haul against SEC. However, DSG's batting wasn't that strong, leading to their defeat.
Noor Ahmed claimed a four-wicket haul, which earned him the Player of the Match award. He was the best bowler of the day, even though his team lost the game. The batters couldn't read his ball, which was a good sign for the bowler. He was quite happy with his performance but disappointed with the results.
"Just try to contribute to the team, and bowl wicket to wicket. The communication is very good, we talk to each other about the wickets and conditions, and different batters. I just keep it simple, back my natural ability. Not happy with this result but we will come back stronger," said Noor Ahmed.
