Odean Smith's brilliant catch gave the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 a perfect start. In the game against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, Smith pulled off a blinder at the boundary line to dismiss Sam Billings. Smith was playing for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who won the game by one wicket.

On the last ball of the 13th over, Dominic Drakes bowled a back of a good length delivery around the middle and leg stump, and Sam Billings played a shot towards the backward square leg but didn't time it. However, the ball was in the air and was moving towards the boundary line when Odean Smith caught the ball but released it as soon as he stepped on the boundary line.

He then came back and caught the ball, which was nothing less than a brilliant catch. This catch was more or less a replica of Suryakumar Yadav's catch from the T20 World Cup 2024 finals on the long off. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots' Kyle Mayers received the Player of the Match award.

I want us to be positive: Andre Fletcher

After winning the 1st match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024,  St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots' skipper Andre Fletcher was quite positive and encouraged the boys to enjoy the game. He was quite happy with how his team played and hoped to get more such matches in the future.

"Happy that we won this game but at the same time will say we had soft dismissals. We took the game away from them in phases and brought them back in, that's something we have to look at. I want us to be positive and at the same time we have to be smart, enjoy each other's success and once we do that, we have the personnel to win," said skipper Andre Fletcher.
