Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been struggling for form this season, was out after scoring just 19 runs. In the fourth ball of the 17th over, Trent Boult bowled a slowish full ball to Reddy, and the batter tried to use the ‘helicopter shot’ made famous by MS Dhoni. The ball travelled to Tilak Varma, who took an easy catch.

Abhishek Sharma, coming into the game on the back of his blazing ton, was the top scorer for SRH. The left-handed batter hit 40 runs from just 28 balls with seven hits to the fence. The 24-year-old went after Deepak Chahar and hit the veteran pacer for three successive fours.

Raj Bawa took a neat catch to give Hardik Pandya and MI their first wicket of the game. Will Jacks then got the wickets of Ishan Kishan (2) and Travis Head (28) to dent massive blows to Hyderabad. When Nitish Reddy was out in the 17th over, SRH were placed at 113 for the loss of four wickets.

Heinrich Klaasen went after Deepak Chahar and hit the Indian pacer for two fours and two sixes in four balls. The over finished with Chahar conceding 21 runs to give SRH the much-needed acceleration. Jasprit Bumrah, bowling his final over of the innings, uprooted Klaasen’s stumps to dismiss the batter for 37 runs, which came off 28 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Hardik Pandya gave away 22 runs in the final over of the innings to help SRH end their innings on a high. Aniket Verma hit Pandya for two successive sixes to score 13 runs off the first three balls. In the final ball of the innings, Pat Cummins swung Pandya over the square leg region to register his first maximum of the day.
