The rain-inflicted third Test of BGT 2024 between Australia and India finally ended in a draw; however, the fifth and last day wasn’t very easy for the hosts who dominated the field in the first innings of the game. After bundling out India at 260, Australia came to bat in the second innings, in which they faced a batting collapse.

Meanwhile, what attracted the eyeballs was an on-field conversation between Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli. The chat happened just before the dismissal of veteran Aussie batter Steve Smith in the second innings.

It all started when Rohit Sharma asked Mohammed Siraj why the latter was bowling over the stumps; in the meantime, Virat Kohli passed through the non-striker’s end and advised Siraj to continue bowling from over the stumps. Furthermore, Kohli also suggested skipper Rohit to place square leg a bit deeper.

Here’s how the conversation unfolded between Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj and Virat Kohli:

Rohit to Siraj: “Where are you bowling from?”

Siraj: “Over the stumps.”

Rohit: “Bowling over the stumps will make it easier for the batter to open up his stance.”

Virat to Rohit: “No, no, let him bowl from over the stumps. If he bowls that scrambled seam delivery, there’s a higher chance of getting him out. He’s right (Siraj). Set the square leg a bit deeper for the inswing and let him bowl at the stumps.”

Siraj managed to get rid of Steve Smith just on the next ball after this conversation, alongside his skipper and former skipper. The video of this moment is also surfacing on social media as soon as it was shared by a fan over X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of the Gabba Test, Australia declared their second innings after losing 7 wickets at just 89 runs, with a lead of 274 runs. While chasing the target, India had scored only 8 runs for no loss before the announcement of ‘match drawn’ arrived.
