Australia have won the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval by 10 wickets. There was a huge buzz when Mohammed Siraj came out to bat on Sunday. Travis Head was fielding at short leg as the two players had a chat, which was caught by Stump Mic.
Head was heard telling Siraj, “I swear I said well bowled." To which Siraj replied, “I also said well batted." Both Siraj and Head then went back to their routine. Ironically, it was Head who took the catch to dismiss Mohammed Siraj that ended India’s innings.
After the win by ten wickets, as the players were making their way off the field, Head and Siraj shared a warm greeting. Seemingly both players have made up to put an end to the fight that stole the show on Saturday. Travis Head took the match away from India after scoring 140 runs off 141 balls.
Sunil Gavaskar slams Mohammed Siraj for his antics
Meanwhile, former Indian batting star Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Mohammed Siraj for giving Travis Head send-off on Saturday. The 75-year-old, while on Star Sports, didn’t mince his words while criticizing Siraj for his actions.
Sunil Gavaskar said, “Unnecessary, if you ask me. The man's got 140; he hasn't gotten out for one or two. You don't give a send-off to someone who's batted brilliantly and won the crowd over. Instead of becoming a hero for dismissing him, Siraj has become the villain.”
The former Indian star also added, “If Siraj had simply applauded Head after that dismissal, he would have been a hero for everyone in the stadium. Instead, he got the stick from the crowd, and understandably so.”
Matthew Hayden also chimed in during his chat on Star Sports and said, “It was probably just a little bit of emotion and passion from Siraj, who bowled his heart out. But when you're facing a local hero who's just made 140, you need to show some humility.”
Mohammed Siraj spoke to Harbhajan Singh about the events that transpired with Head on Star Sports. The 30-year-old said that Head was lying about his claims of saying ‘well bowled' during his interview with Fox Cricket. “It’s a lie that he said ‘well bowled’ to me. When you get hit for a six on your good ball, it kind of gets annoying. It ignites your passion," he said.
