Indian cricket fans have massive good news after the loss in the 1st Test match in Bengaluru. Pace bowler Mohammed Shami is back bowling side and a fan recently posted a video of the 34-year-old bowling in the nets. This is the first time Shami has been seen bowling since the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia.

Initially, it was reported that Mohammed Shami would be fit in time for the series against New Zealand. There were further reports that Shami faced fresh injury concerns. This raised doubts that the veteran Indian star could be doubtful for the upcoming five-match tour of Australia.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that the team management will be careful regarding the bowler’s return to the team. In the short video posted Shami was seen running into the bowl with his knee bandaged. This is a positive sign for fans and the team management as far as the veteran seamer's return is concerned.

Rohit Sharma gives update on Rishabh Pant’s fitness

After a loss in the first game in Bengaluru, Rohit Sharma was asked about Rishabh Pant’s fitness. The 27-year-old didn’t keep wickets despite batting in the 2nd dig and scoring 99 runs with the bat. Dhruv Jurel kept wickets in both innings with Pant not seen in the dugout during New Zealand’s 2nd innings.

The Indian skipper said, “Yeah, look, about his injury, he has had a massive operation on his leg, so we all know what we went through. It is just about being a little careful of where he's at and what he is to us. Even when he was batting, he was not comfortably running. He was only trying to put the ball into the stands but again, with someone like him, we need to be extra careful.”

The 37-year-old also added, “Pant is someone who has minor surgeries, one big surgery on his knee and he went through a lot of trauma, to be honest. It is just about being extra careful, not careful. When you are keeping, you have to bend every ball with your knee going down, and with the wicket being what it was, we thought it was right for him to stay inside and get ready for the next one."
