Tom Latham and his New Zealand side seemed to have thrown in the towel after Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan took the attack to the bowlers. Sarfaraz Khan was out after scoring 150 runs when he was caught by Ajaz Patel off Tim Southee. By then, the home team had taken the lead after being bowled out for 46 in the 1st innings.ย

On the third ball of the 87 over, Southee came round the wicket and saw Rishabh Pant slog sweep him out of the ground. The ball easily cleared the stands as it went a massive 107 meters and went out of the park. Glenn Phillips could only react with shock as the Indian star was just one hit away from scoring his 7th test ton.ย

Rishabh Pant had issues on the 2nd day after being hit on his knee. The 27-year-old didnโ€™t take the field on Friday as Dhruv Jurel took over the wicketkeeping duties. On Saturday, Pant came out to bat with Sarfaraz Khan and the pair scored with rapid pace.ย

Just when the crowd was getting ready for a ton, Pant was out for 99 when he was bowled off an inside edge off William O Rourke. Fans and the Indian cricket team were left in complete shock as Pant made his way back to the hut.ย

India are on the cusp of a huge lead in the Bengaluru Test match

Team India started the 4th day of the opening Test in Bengaluru with the score reading 231/3. The morning sessions saw Sarfaraz Khan continue on his merry ways as he reached 96. Tim Southee was hit for a crunching shot as the ball went for 4 and Khan got to his century.ย

Rain came down to stop play for close to an hour before the game could resume. Both the young batters added 177 runs for the 4th wicket in just 211 balls. The stand was broken when Tim Southee dismissed Sarfaraz for 150 off 195 balls with 18 fours and 3 sixes.ย

KL Rahul came out to bat and added 25 runs in four overs with Pant before the latter was out. Rishabh Pantโ€™s knock came off 105 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes including the huge one off Southee that was the highlight of the day. At the time of writing, India were 434/5 from 89.1 overs with an overall lead of 78 with four sessions left to play in the game.ย
