WATCH: Mitchell Marsh plays stylish pull shot for six off Pat Cummins in LSG vs SRH IPL 2025 game

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got off to great start in the must-win IPL 2025 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday night. Australian batter Mitchell Marsh came out all guns blazing in the very first over of the game. Pat Cummins opened the bowling for SRH and the very first ball of the game saw Marsh smash the ball to the fence for a four.

In the fourth ball of the same over, Cummins bowled a short ball and Marsh was ready for it. The veteran Australian star pulled off a stylish pull shot over the deep mid-wicket region for the first six of the game. Cummins was hammered for 11 runs in the opening over of the game as the home team began to assert their dominance early. 

Rishabh Pant and his men were put into bat first after SRH skipper won the toss. The visitors made two changes as Travis Head and Jaydev Unadkat were missing in action. The duo were replaced by Vidarbha duo Atharva Taide and Harsh Dubey. Home team, LSG made one change as William O Rourke came in for his first IPL match.

Debutant Harsh Dubey could have picked a wicket of his first ball when Marsh tried to cut the ball and only managed to get an edge. Ishan Kishan dropped the catch and in the very next ball, Marsh hit the spinner for a huge six straight down the ground. Aiden Markram got his innings going with a splendid four off Cummins as LSG reached 28 for no loss after three overs. 

The South African batter also hit Dubey for a six and followed it up with a four to take 17 runs off the left-arm spinners second over. Harshal Patel began his spell with a wide ball and saw his first legal delivery being slammed over the extra cover region for a six by Marsh. 

Eshan Malinga’s introduction to the bowling crease didn’t change anything as LSG ended the powerplay overs on a high. Malinga was smashed for a brutal six by Marsh and Markram then hit a beautiful four through the covers to take 12 runs off the Sri Lankan’s opening over.
