On Day 2 of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 at Lord's, Australia's Pat Cummins gave big blow to the vital 64-run partnership by dismissing South Africa's Temba Bavuma.  In a pivotal moment for Australia, Temba Bavuma, who was doing well with the bat, was sent off with a beautiful catch by Marnus Labuschagne near cover.

In the 40th over, Temba Bavuma rushed for the appealing line and length after Pat Cummins delivered a full delivery outside off stump on the second ball. The captain of South Africa attempted a drive but failed to hold the ball down. Marnus Labuschagne, who was positioned at the cover, responded quickly by diving to his right and making a spectacular attempt to send Bavuma packing with a superb two-handed catch.

The WTC Final 2025 saw Bavuma smash 36 off 84 balls, including four boundaries and a six, but Cummins prevailed in the battle of the captains.  Australia now leads after a single mistake by the Proteas skipper, who had been playing with assurance throughout the morning session, timing the ball effectively, and displaying great purpose. South Africa is currently 91 runs behind Australia in the first session of Day 2 of the WTC Final 2025 at the storied Lord's Cricket Ground after falling to 5 down for 94 runs.

Steve Smith and Beau Webster steadied the ship for Australia

With bowlers controlling the action at Lord's, where 14 wickets were lost, Mitchell Starc spearheaded an Australia comeback on Day 1 following Kagiso Rabada's incredible five-wicket haul. With two top-order wickets under his belt and the help of other fast bowlers, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, Starc helped South Africa finish at 43 for four, 169 runs behind. Rabada and Marco Jansen (3/49) had previously taken the lead as the holders faltered after tea, dropping five for 20 after Steve Smith and Beau Webster's half-centuries had steadied the ship.
