Australian star Marnus Labuschagne isn’t part of the team that is playing in T20 World Cup currently in West Indies. The 29-year-old though is keeping himself busy by playing for Glamorgan in the T20 Blast 2024 season.

On Thursday, Glamorgan took on Gloucestershire in the South Group match in Cardiff. Marnus Labuschagne provided a magical moment when he pulled off a stunning catch to dismissing Ben Charlesworth.

Mason Crowe tossed one up to Ben Charlesworth as the batter swung at the ball and good elevation. It seem destined that the ball was set to go to the fence for a four. That’s when Marnus Labuschagne made a huge dash and flung himself to take the catch.

It was one of the best catches of the season, as Labuschagne dove full length and caught the ball with both hands. What made this catch special was the fact that the Aussie star had made a lot of ground in really quick time. Once the catch was taken he was flanked by his teammates who congratulated him for his efforts.

Gloucestershire beat Glamorgan in thrilling tie

It was Glamorgan who won the toss and chose to bat first as the home team scored 140 on the board. Sam Northeast was the best with 46 runs from 42 balls with 4 fours and a six in his knock.

Colin Ingram with 25 and Daniel Douthwaite with 21 not out were the other key contributors with the bat. Marnus Labuschagne scored 18 runs before he became one of the 3 wickets for left-arm pacer Matthew Taylor.

Chasing 141 to win, the Glamorgan bowlers didn’t let the visiting side settle. At one stage, Gloucestershire were placed at 90/7 at the end of 16 overs still needing 51 runs to win from 24 balls.

That is when skipper Jack Taylor added 44-runs for the 8th wicket with Marchant De Lange from 22 balls. This partnership got the visitors back into the game but Taylor departed in the 4th ball of the 20th over.

At that stage Gloucestershire needed 7 runs from 2 balls for the win. Josh Shaw picked 2 runs off his first ball to make it 5 needed off 1 ball. A four would have tied the game and a six was needed for a win. Josh Shaw turned savior as he hit Andy Gorvin for a six to hand his team a last ball win with just 2 wickets to spare.
