South Africa took on West Indies in a key encounter in the Super-8 match of T20 World Cup in Antigua. The two sides have to win the game more so the home team to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

Kyle Mayers was drafted into the team in place of Johnson Charles and the left-handed batter opened the batting with Shai Hope. In the final ball of the 8th over, Mayers hit the ball down the ground and it was sailing over the ropes.

Marco Jansen tried to stop the ball and has his eyes on the ball. The young Proteas failed to spot Kagiso Rabada who was also making his way to avoid the ball from going over the ropes. The two stars had a massive collision as Rabada’s upper body made contact with Jansen’s mid-riff area and the two players went down in a heap. ‘

The doctors made their way to the ground as both players were visibly in a lot of discomfort. Marco Jansen made his way off the field and was seen sitting in the dugout. Both players bowled just two overs each and the latest update on their medical status isn’t known as yet.

West Indian bowlers hit back early before rain stops play

Defending just 136, West Indies bowlers left South Africa reeling at 15/2 when rain came down. Quinton De Kock hit Akeal Hossein for 3 fours in the first over to give his team a great start.

Andre Russell then struck two blows in the second over to bring the home team back into the contest. The veteran star first dismissed Reeza Hendricks for a first ball duck when the Proteas opener was caught down the leg side.

This was followed by Quinton De Kock being caught by Sherfane Rutherford while going for a big hit. The home fans came unglued at the fall of those two wickets to give new hope to the West Indian side.

It was at this point the rain came down and the target for South Africa was 123 to win from 17 overs. Earlier in the day, West Indies were able to score 135/8 from their 20 overs thanks to 52 runs made by Roston Chase.
