WATCH: Manchester Originals fall short of 1 run in last-ball drama, Trent Rockets register thrilling win in The Hundred

In the 7th game of the Hundred Mens Competition 2024, a dramatic scene took place in the last ball of the game where the Manchester Originals lost the match against Trent Rockets by just 1 run. It would have been an easy win for the Originals, but they somehow threw the wicket in the last ball, which cost them the match. After a terrific performance throughout the game, the Originals had just 2 runs to win in the last ball. 

Max Holden was at the crease, facing the fierce Jordan Thompson. It was a length delivery by Thompson, and Holden tried to play the pull shot, but the ball kept low and went straight to the backward square leg, where Sam Hain didn't make any mistakes. The Hundred took to their social media account to post the last ball, which gained a lot of views.

The Manchester Originals had to chase 146 runs in 100 balls against the Trent Rockets. Opener Max Holden tried his best to stay till the end and win the game for his team but failed in the last ball. He scored 40 runs off 37 balls, while Paul Walter scored 29 runs off 15 balls. Imad Wasim, Sam Cook, and Rashid Khan took two wickets for the Rockets. 

My job at the top is to put their bowlers under pressure: Tom Banton

Trent Rockets' opener Tom Banton was the Match Hero for scoring a brilliant 45 runs off 22 balls. It was because of the kind of start he gave that Rockets score went up to 145 runs. While talking at the post-match presentation, Banton spoke about his responsibilities in the team and what they are planning ahead in the future. 

"Very up and down, they played extremely well. Got to a very close ending. That’s what the Hundred is about. My job at the top is to put their bowlers under pressure. Respect the good balls and put the ones in my zone away. We talked about qualifying and 2 wins in 2 is a great start," said Tom Banton.
