Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, which shook the cricket fans. It was an unexpected decision that came in from the spin wizard in the middle of the series. Since then, the question that kept hitting Ashwin over and over again was, what's next? During an interview with Ashwin, Vimal Kumar, a renowned sports journalist and a YouTuber, asked him about his future plans and whether he would be interested in becoming the selector someday, but Ashwin flipped out.
The former player told, 'Aap ek kaam karo, mere sar pe jitna bhi aap mujhe roles mein dekhna chahte ho, meme bana k bhej do mujhe. Maine bhi decide nai kiya hai abhi mujhe kya karna hai. Aap jo cricket mein baare mein baat kar the rahen, aaram see baat kojiye."

From his approach, it was quite clear that he wanted to take some time off from the sport without thinking much about the future. Ashwin has had a marvellous career and will be a part of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He was signed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the auction, which means that the local boy will be back in his hometown for the summer.
What difference will this make: Ravichandran Ashwin
After his retirement, when the fans were asking Ashwin why he didn't inform anyone beforehand and play a farewell game, he disclosed on his YouTube channel that his creative side ended, which is why he made that decision. He just wants to enjoy his life for a while before thinking about anything else at the moment.
"What difference will this make if I came out with the ball and people are clapping? How long will people talk about it? When social media was not there, people talked about it and forgot after one week. There is no need for a farewell. The game has given us a lot, and we have played with a lot of happiness," said Ashwin.
