Wicketkeeping is one of the toughest jobs in cricket and it becomes even more taxing in the T20 format. Since the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, some of the top wicketkeepers in the world have shown their wares. Over the past few years, the likes of MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, and Ishan Kishan have been India’s best wicket-keepers in IPL history.

In fact, legendary wicket-keepers like Adam Gilchrist, Mark Boucher, AB De Villiers, and Quinton De Kock have been part of the league. IPL has seen only two wicket-keeper captains win the league. Adam Gilchrist achieved the feat in 2009 with Deccan Chargers while MS Dhoni won the league five times with Chennai Super Kings.

As we head into the 18th season of the IPL, the focus yet again will fall on the athleticism and sharp-minded presence of the wicket-keepers. With each passing year, the standard of the league keeps getting tougher and the role of wicket-keepers even harder.
