Trent Rockets stormed to third in the table after they beat London Spirit by 22 runs on Wednesday. The highlight of the game was when left-arm fast bowler Luke Wood got the huge wicket of Andre Russell to earn his team the win.

The incident occurred in the 62nd ball of the chase as Andre Russell was batting on 23. Luke Wood bowled a well-disguised slower ball to outfox the burly West Indian star and saw the stumps being disturbed.

It was a huge moment in the game as the visiting side needed 66 more runs from 38 balls. With Andre Russell in the middle, the London side were fancying their chances of a win. Russell had already one four and two sixes during his knock of 23 before he was done in by Luke Wood.

Alex Hales and Rashid Khan lead Trent Rockets to a huge win

Wicketkeeper Tom Banton and local hero and former England star Alex Hales combined forces to add 69 runs for the 2nd wicket off just 42 balls. Liam Dawson got the wicket of Banton as he had the batter caught by Russell for 36 runs off 25 balls.

England batting star Joe Root then came in and started to attack the bowlers right from the word go. Alex Hales was out for 68 runs from 42 balls with 3 hits to the fence and five huge sixes.

Joe Root was run out after scoring 32 runs from 23 balls while Rovman Powell scored 13 not out from 7 balls. Trent Rockets ended their innings on 166 runs from their 100 deliveries. Richard Gleeson was the best bowler for the visitors with 2 for 32 from the 20 balls bowled.

Chasing 167 to win, London Spirit lost Michael Kyle-Pepper for 2 when he was caught by Rashid Khan off Imad Wasim. The Pakistani star then struck for a second time when he got the big wicket of Ollie Pope for 10.

Skipper Daniel Lawrence scored 4 runs before Rashid Khan trapped him in front of the wicket. The Afghanistan star struck in the very next ball to dismiss Shimron Hetmyer for a first ball duck.

Keaton Jennings was the next man out as he scored 31 off 18 balls before becoming the third wicket of Rashid Khan. The best batter for London Spirit was Matthew Critchley with 37 runs off 30 balls, Rashid Khan ended with 4/24 from his 20 deliveries.
