Forgotten English spinner Liam Dawson bowled one of the best deliveries of the year. The 34-year-old who is playing for Hampshire in England’s 50-over domestic tournament bowled an amazing ball to get rid of Ryan Higgins.

The incident happened in the fifth ball of the 38th over of the Middlesex innings. Liam Dawson pitched the ball on the middle stump line as the batter tried to play the ball towards the leg side.

That is when the ball turned away sharply to hit the off-stump. It was a dream delivery that reminded many of some of the best deliveries bowled by some of the best left-arm spinners like Daniel Vettori, Rangana Herath, and Ravindra Jadeja

Hampshire beat Middlesex by 19 runs

It was Middlesex who won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ethan Bamber got the scalp of Fletcha Middleton for 14 while Henry Brookes dismissed Hampshire skipper Nick Gubbins for 15.

Tom Prest and Ben Brown then added 59 runs for the third wicket before Prest was out for 40. Ben Brown was the next to go after he scored a patient 41 runs from 55 balls having batted for 76 minutes.

Liam Dawson scored 48 runs from 53 balls with 5 fours and a six as he was dismissed by Luke Hollman. The best batter for Hampshire was Toby Albert who hit 75 runs from 53 balls with five fours and four huge sixes.

This helped Hampshire score 276 on the board as former South African pacer Kyle Abbott contributed with crucial 20 runs.

In reply, Joe Cracknell was out for 10 and dismissed by Abbott Brad Wheal got the other opener Nathan Fernandes out for 33. Sam Robson batted 49 balls for his 20 as he was accounted for by Felix Organ.

Skipper Mark Stoneman played an attacking knock of 53 runs which came off 64 balls while wicketkeeper Jack Davies scored 46 runs from 45 balls. Both the set batters fell to the former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Abbas who ended with 2/38 from his 10 overs.

Kyle Abbott was the best bowler for Hampshire, with figures of 4/48 from his 9.1 overs, and Middlesex lost by 19 runs. The win now has pushed Hampshire to 3rd in the Group A standings while Middlesex are 6th in the table.
