Sai Sudharsan’s blitz helps GT get off to good start

Left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan took ownership of the Orange Cap once again with his blazing blade on Sunday. The 23-year-old began with a four in the second ball of the opening over against Axar Patel. In the same over, GT skipper Shubman Gill got into the act as he slog swept Patel for a six to get off the mark.

Sudharsan then went after his Tamil Nadu teammate T Nataraj who was bowling the second over. The first three balls produced 14 runs with one six and two fours and the final ball of the over produced the third boundary of the over as 20 runs were scored. GT had raced to 59 for no loss from six overs to put the home side under pressure.

The pair kept scoring runs with ease as DC bowlers looked lost for ideas. In the fifth ball of the eighth over Shubman Gill also reached 5000 runs in T20 cricket. GT openers got their 100-run stand in the fourth ball of the 11th over when Gill hit Vipraj Nigam for a huge six.
