Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam continued to showcase his poor form with the bat ahead of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh starting on Friday. The 29-year-old was seen struggling in the nets facing Khurram Shahzad.

In a short clip posted on social media, Khurram Shahzad was seen bowling to Babar Azam. The former Pakistan skipper got an away going ball which he poked at and got a thick edge. This would have carried to the slips in a real game, post this Babar Azam hit his bat on the ground to show his frustrations.

In the first Test, Babar Azam was out for a duck in the first innings. This was the first ever duck in home conditions for Babar Azam. In the 2nd innings, Babar Azam was out for 22 to Nahid Rana as he was castled, thanks to an inside edge.

Pakistan lost the first Test to Bangladesh by a huge margin of 10 wickets. This was the first ever time the home team has lost to Bangladesh in Test cricket. Rawalpindi will also host the 2nd Test as Shan Masood and his side aim to win the game and level the series.

Rameez Raja comes out in support of Babar Azam

Former Pakistan skipper Rameez Raja has voiced his support for struggling Babar Azam. Taking to his YouTube channel, Rameez Raja said, “Fan following increases with wins and fans identify themselves with success stories.”

Rameez Raja also went on to say, “Babar Azam has had a famous success story. There is no doubt that he has been a big player in all three formats of the game”. Many former players had called out Babar Azam for his rash stroke in the second innings of the first Test.

“Unfortunately what happens is when you lose a match and you haven’t scored runs and if you are Babar Azam, you become the headline. How did we lose? What did he do? What was his contribution? And then this is the era of social media. Jiska dil chahe who kisi ki bhi patloon utar sakta hai and this should be discouraged as much as possible” said Rameez Raja.

The former Pakistan skipper ended by saying, “He is trying hard so the frustration will be there. What is important is how is batting. Scoring runs is one thing but is he happy with the way he is batting? The last innings he played, he was bowled off an inside edge. It means your bat angles are not right. You lose your frame because you aren’t spending time on the crease.”
