The former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam yet again has disappointed the crowd who had come watch the final day’s play in Rawalpindi. The 29-year-old had registered his first duck on home soil in the first innings and was out for just 22 in the 2nd dig.

Babar Azam was batting on 22 when he got a full ball outside off stump from Nahid Rana. Sensing the opportunity for a boundary, Babar Azam threw his arms and went for a wild slash.

That is when the ball took the inside edge and crashed onto the stumps. The ball was clocked at 146.4 kilometres per hour and the Bangladeshi team were ecstatic. It was the third wicket to fall of Pakistan as the score read 66/3 as the home team trailed by 51 runs.

Bangladesh picks wickets at regular intervals on final day

Pakistan had lost their opener Saim Ayub early or late on the 4th day when he was out for 1 caught by Litton Das off Shoriful Islam. Hasan Mahmud struck early on the final day when he had skipper Shan Masood caught by Das for 14.

Babar Azam could have recorded a pair if not for Litton Das to drop an easy catch. Shoriful Islam had the former Pakistan skipper edge the ball but Das fumbled and dropped an easy catch much to the shock of his teammates.

After the loss of Babar Azam, it was the turn of Saud Shakeel to lose his wicket. The left-handed batter went down the track and was stumped by Das to give Shakib his first wicket.

Abdullah Shafique was joined by Mohammad Rizwan as the pair began a counter-attack. Only 15 runs were scored from a single over off Shakib AL Hasan and 11 more runs came off the next over to cut the deficit.

Shakib Al Hasan then got his second wicket of the innings when he dismissed the well-set Abdullah Shafique. Shadman Islam took a good catch to send the Pakistani opener back to the hut for 37. Bangladesh had dismissed half the side before lunch to raise hopes of an unlikely win.
