The Hundred 2024 tournament has gotten off to a great start. In the very second game of the campaign, there was a massive battle that took place between England pacer Jofra Archer and West Indian powerhouse Andre Russell.

The match between London Spirit and Southern Brave saw the Southern side win the game by 7 wickets. Southampton saw packed stands as the fans enjoyed the game to the fullest and cheered the home team to an easy win.

Jofra Archer was bowling to Andre Russell and the England pacer bowled a bit short. The ball didn’t rise to the expected levels and Andre Russell went back and pulled the ball deep into the stands for a huge six.

The very next ball, Jofra Archer bowled shorter outside the off-stump. Andre Russell tried to play a chip shot over the third-man boundary. The West Indian star though was left shocked as he could only chip the ball into the waiting hands of Craig Overton for 11 off 7 balls to leave Jofra Archer having the last laugh.

Southern Brave canter home to easy win over London Spirit

London Spirit skipper Dan Lawrence won the toss and chose to bat first. James Coles got the first wicket of the day dismissing Adam Rossington for 1. Craig Overton then got the wickets of Daniel Bell Drummond for 4 and Michael Pepper for 12.

The England pacer then got his third wicket when he dismissed Ravi Bopara for 7 to leave the Spirit side at 43/4. Shimron Hetmyer scored five before he was sent back to the hut by Tymal Mills.

Skipper Dan Lawrence battled hard to score 38 runs from 30 balls while Liam Dawson was the best batter for the London side. Dawson scored 45 not out from 19 balls with four boundaries and 3 sixes to help London reach 138 from their 100 balls.

Daniel Hughes and James Vince gave the Braves a good start adding 95 runs for the 1st wicket in 58 balls. Hughes scored 45 runs from 30 balls before falling to Bopara. Dan Lawrence then dismissed his opposite number for 56 off 35 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
