England have won the Test series versus West Indies after securing a 241-run win in Trent Bridge. Ollie Pope has been one of the central figures in the renaissance of England’s batting in their new Baz-Ball era.

The win over West Indies also meant that England now has moved off the bottom of the World Test Championship Table. The three lions had won the first Test at Lord’s inside three days in what was James Anderson’s last-ever game for England.

Speaking to the ICC Website, Ollie Pope said, “There is a real hunger - there always is a hunger - but now there is an extra bit in that batting line-up," the star has been blistering in 2024 with 544 runs from 7 matches so far with 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries.

Ollie Pope backs England’s approach to Test Cricket

It has been a huge change in approach by Brendon McCullum and his side as they have scored runs at a brisk pace. While there have been many who have backed this bold approach.

Pope, while speaking to ICC, said, “We want to be as ruthless as we can as a batting unit, but we still play the way we do because that is our natural game. Obviously, being ruthless is being part of Test cricket as well."

The 25-year-old also said, “I got asked on day one, 'Do you get told to play like that?'. No, we do not. It is just our natural games and the way we go about it. Sometimes we might score 280-300 in a day but that is OK and probably because we are reading situations."

“There might also be a day where we go and get 500 to 600 at some point in the future as well. And that is a cool thing to have." Ollie Pope ended by saying during his chat with the apex cricket body.

Former England skipper Eoin Morgan has denied that he is set to become the coach for the white ball team. The 2019 World Cup-winning skipper has said that he will take a plunge into coaching in the future.

Morgan, during a chat with ESPNCRICINFO, said, “This news is actually news to me. It is not nice when a coach comes under fire and there is a lot of speculation about his future. Only time will tell about what will happen."
