England's prolific batter Joe Root has set high standards as he scored his sixth double ton in Test cricket. In the ongoing 1st Test match against Pakistan, Root slammed 250 runs, helping England take a lead of 102 runs before lunch. Along with him, Harry Brook hit a double ton (218) as well. Both batters have wreaked havoc on the Pakistan bowlers as they have scored 658 runs at the loss of just three wickets.

With more batters to come in, England are looking forward to getting some more runs on the board. But Root's classical innings will be remembered by the Pakistan bowlers as he smashed them fearlessly and confidently in their own backyard. With their batting, it doesn't feel like the match is in Pakistan, as England are playing like Multan Cricket Stadium is their own home ground.

Brook and Root have built a partnership of 409 runs in 485 balls, which is quite impressive. They played some outstanding cricket book shots, which were eye-pleasing. However, with that, they did play some unorthodox shots like reverse sweep, but the connection with the bat was perfect, and hence, the ball went to the boundary most of the time.

Joe Root becomes the highest run-scorer for England in Test match

Joe Root was just 70 runs away from surpassing Alastair Cook in the highest run-scorer list of England when he landed to play against Pakistan. In the 1st Test match, he went past Cook to become the highest run scorer for England in Test cricket. Now, he is the fifth-highest run-scorer overall and is just 3000-odd runs away from Sachin Tendulkar to become the highest run-scorer in Test cricket.

With Root's speed and flexibility, he can easily break Sachin's record before he retires from international cricket. There is no better batter than Root in Test cricket in modern-age cricket. The way with which he plays the shots and bats for hours without getting tired speaks volumes about his fitness.
