England's Joe Root has surpassed Sir Alastair Cook to become the leading run-scorer for England in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in the ongoing series against Pakistan, where he scored 72 runs off 118 balls, including five boundaries. He is still batting and is on the verge of getting a century in the game. Root went past Alastair Cook’s 12,472 runs with a straight-driven boundary before lunch to reach 72 runs on day three of the 1st Test match.

With the boundary, Root has scored 12473 runs and has jumped to the fifth position in the leading run-scorer list. Above him are Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, and Rahul Dravid. He is just 815 runs away from Rahul Dravid in the total runs tally. India's former legendary batter Tendulkar is leading the list with 15921 runs.

England's fighting innings against Pakistan continues as they have scored 244 runs at the loss of two wickets. After Ollie Pope's dismissal, things settled down for England thanks to Zak Crawley's 78 runs off 85 balls, including 13 boundaries. He played beautifully before getting dismissed on Shaheen Afridi's delivery. After him, Ben Duckett built a partnership of 134 runs off 149 balls. Duckett is playing on 84 runs in 73 balls. He has hit 11 boundaries so far and is playing pretty fast.

Pakistan's batting prowess against England shocked the entire world

After an extremely disappointing series against Bangladesh, the Pakistani batters have emerged to be strong and fearless in the 1st Test match against England. Three of the batters scored centuries, taking the total score to 556 runs, which is huge. Skipper Shan Masood scored 151 runs, Abdullah Shafique scored 102 runs, and Agha Salman scored 104 runs. Also, vice-captain Saud Shakeel scored 82 runs.

The batters became a nightmare for the English bowlers as they struggled to dismiss them on the first day. For England, Jack Leach was the best bowler, taking three wickets. Apart from him, Brydon Chase and Gus Atkinson took two wickets each. Now it's time for the English batters to prove their worth and claim the match.
