Jasprit Bumrah yet again was the man who did early damage with the ball as Australia came out to bat in the 2nd innings. India were bowled out for 260 in the morning session as rain wiped out rest of the session. Teams took early lunch before play resumed on time after the break.
Usman Khawaja who has been struggling for runs hit 2 spectacular boundaries to get off the mark. Bumrah came round the wicket and Khawaja saw his stumps get rattled as he got an inside to be dismissed for 8 runs from 7 balls. The second wicket of the innings for Bumrah was that of Marnus Labuschagne to make it 20 wickers in the series.
Labuschagne was batting on 1 when Bumrah had the Australian number 3 batter edge behind to Rishabh Pant. Australia came out to bat with an overall lead of 185 and were intent on scoring quick runs before putting India into bat once again. With the conditions suddenly brightening up, there was new life being sparked into the contest.
Akash Deep slides Australia into deeper trouble
Yet another batter who has been struggling with the bat is young Nathan McSweeney. The right-handed batter was out for four runs when he edged behind to Pant as Akash Deep got his first wicket. The 28-year-old the dismissed Mitchell Marsh for 2 runs to give Pant his 3rd catch of the innings.
Mohammed Siraj then made it 33/5 when he dismissed Steve Smith for 4 as Pant got his 4th catch of the innings. Travis Head reached 400 runs for the series but began his innings in shaky fashion. The left-handed batter nearly was bowled while facing his 1st ball of the second innings. In the next ball, Head nearly gave a simple catch to Shubman Gill but the youngster wasn’t able to reach the ball.
The final two sessions of the day is set to be a cracker as Indian bowlers are making a massive statement. If the weather holds up , the Aussies might want to give Indian batters a crack at the total set with more than 50 overs left to play in the game.
